(HARRISBURG) – The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has awarded a grant to the Montour Area Recreation Commission (MARC), according to Senator John R. Gordner (R-27) and Representative Kurt A. Masser (R-107). The funding has been approved by the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program.
The $125,000 grant will be used for the rehabilitation and further development of Hopewell Park, Mahoning Township, Montour County. The project includes the renovation and construction of a parking area, pump track and bicycle skills area, stormwater management measures, improved ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
“I am pleased that DCNR has chosen to fund this important project for the benefit of those that utilize Hopewell Park for recreational and fitness purposes,” said Senator Gordner. “MARC and Bob Stoudt continue to be recipients of these funds because of their successful projects in the past.”
The Community Conservation Partnerships Program is funded through a variety of state and federal sources including the Keystone Park and Recreation Fund, the state Recreational Trails Fund, the Environmental Stewardship Fund and the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.
