Gordner Announces State Grant in Snyder County

(HARRISBURG) – The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has awarded a grant to Penn Dairy, LLC in Snyder County, according to Senator John R. Gordner (R-27).  Through his strong support, funds were made available through the Pennsylvania Dairy Investment program.

The grant, in the amount of $500,000, will be utilized for facility and equipment upgrades at the dairy processing facility located in Jackson Township.  The project will convert 5,000 square feet of dry storage area into a Safe Quality Food yogurt production area.  Other aspects of the facility will be upgraded to allow operations to expand.

“I am pleased that the CFA has awarded this significant grant to Penn Dairy,” said Senator Gordner.  “The plant expansion means a significant increase in the need for milk supplies, which will not only enhance Penn Dairy, but also the local agricultural community.”

Penn Dairy has worked closely with SEDA-COG throughout the process.

“This is an incredible boon for Penn Dairy and our local economy. They are truly invested in our region, as we’ve seen with their participation in SEDA-COG’s Dairy Committee, which seeks solutions for our region’s milk producers,” said SEDA-COG Executive Director Bill Seigel.  “I am pleased we were able to directly assist Penn Dairy with local permit facilitation, and we will continue to support their growth by helping meet natural gas, export, or financing needs.”]

The Commonwealth Financing Agency was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus programs.
