SNYDER COUNTY CONSERVATION DISTRICT RECEIVES STATE GRANT

(HARRISBURG) – The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) awarded a grant to the Snyder County Conservation District today, according to state Senator John R. Gordner.  Funds are available through the state’s Growing Greener program.

The grant will be used to assist a farm in Monroe Township to implement best management practices which will serve to minimize the infiltration of nonpoint source pollution into a tributary to the Susquehanna River.  The grant is in the amount of $209,633.

“I am pleased that this application was selected for funding,” said Senator Gordner. “By providing these essential funds, the land owner can utilize current techniques to control runoff into nearby waters, while continuing to operate his farm in a successful manner.  The end result will be a direct benefit to the Chesapeake Bay cleanup initiative.”
