(HARRISBURG) – – The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has approved a Growing Greener grant of $285,000 for the Montour County Conservation District. The grant was announced by Senator John R. Gordner (R-27).
The funding will be used for the Chillisquaque Creek Watershed Restoration Project located in Anthony, Limestone, East Chillisquaque and Liberty Townships. Specifically, the work will include the construction of 10 acres of wetlands, the installation of 200 linear feet of fish habitat, improvements to 200 feet of dirt and gravel roads and the construction of a manure storage area.
“I am pleased that the Department of Environmental Protection has chosen the Montour County Conservation District as a recipient of Growing Greener monies,” said Senator Gordner. “This was a very competitive grant process in which the state awarded $14.1 million for 87 projects in 36 counties. This funding will go a long way in promoting the environmental goals of this important watershed.”
