Senator Gordner to Join Senate Leadership Team for the 2011-2012 Legislative Session

(HARRISBURG)  – – Senator John R. Gordner (R-27) will join the Senate Leadership team for the upcoming session, following his appointment as Majority Caucus Administrator.  The appointment was announced by Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-25).

“I am pleased to be named Caucus Administrator, giving me the opportunity to join our Senate leaders to help formulate policy and initiatives in the Senate,” said Senator Gordner.  “While the difficult challenges ahead are many, we also have an historic opportunity to position the Commonwealth to recover from the current economic downturn.”

“Without question, Sen. Gordner brings a diverse and talented background to the Senate leadership team,” Senator Scarnati said.  “I look forward to working with John, the General Assembly and the new Administration to advance a sound, fiscally conservative agenda.”

Senator Gordner will also remain Chairman of the Senate Labor and Industry Committee for the 2011-2012 session.  In the coming months, the Labor and Industry Committee will be dealing with major reforms of the Unemployment Compensation and Workers’ Compensation systems, as well as working with the incoming Administration on confirmation of a new Secretary of Labor and Industry.
