(HARRISBURG) – Municipal recycling programs are eligible for Recycling Program Development Grants through the state Department of Environmental Protection, according to Senator John R. Gordner (R-27).
“Recycling is important for the economy, helps reduce energy consumption, and of course is great for the environment,” said the Senator. “This important program provides grants of up to $500,000 to municipalities to continue to develop these important programs.”
Funding priorities for the program include:
- Incentive based pricing and collection programs to increase the quantities and types of municipally recycled materials.
- Curbside residential recycling vehicles that utilize alternatives for or supplements to traditional petroleum vehicles.
- Multi-municipal recycling programs.
- Equipment to collect and process fiber products such as corrugated cardboard, junk mail and other paper not currently included in recycling programs.
