(HARRISBURG) – – Area anglers are oiling their reels, checking their rods and making sure they have the best bait in anticipation of the 2005 opening of trout season in Pennsylvania. State Sen. John R. Gordner (R-27) is reminding his constituents that another important piece of gear to help land that big fish is available through his district offices – the 2005 In-Season Stocking Schedule.
“This year, the Fish and Boat Commission is, for the first time, announcing dates of all in-season stockings,” said the Senator. “This provides a great opportunity for anglers to plan their fishing at their favorite streams and lakes.”
The Fish and Boat Commission will stock about 2.8 million brook, brown and rainbow trout – and even a few palomino trout – during the spring season.
Trout season opens on Saturday, April 16 at 8 am. Anglers may take five trout per day that are at least seven inches long. Anglers 16 years of age and older must possess a current Pennsylvania fishing license and trout stamp.
Senator Gordner’s district offices are located in Bloomsburg, Millersburg, Mount Carmel and Shamokin Dam. Stocking lists are also available on-line at www.fish.state.pa.us
