Senate Confirms Jones as Magisterial District Judge

(HARRISBURG) - -  The Senate of Pennsylvania today unanimously confirmed Hugh A. Jones of Elysburg as Magisterial District Judge for eastern Northumberland County, according to Senator John R. Gordner (R-27).  Jones was nominated for the post by Governor Ed Rendell following the retirement of District Judge Michael Mychak.

"Hugh Jones has the legal and community experience that uniquely qualify him for this important judicial office," said Senator Gordner.  "I was pleased to support the nomination and work for Senate confirmation so that the seat could be filled for the remainder of the current term."

Jones will serve until January of 2012, when the seat will be on the election ballot for a full six-year term.

In addition to his private law practice, Jones has served as the County Solicitor and as an Assistant District Attorney in Northumberland County.  He is a graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School, the University of Pennsylvania and the Widener University School of Law.
