Senate Unanimously Confirms Lawton as District Justice

(HARRISBURG) - - The Senate of Pennsylvania today unanimously confirmed Russell "Rusty" Lawton as Magisterial District Justice for the Bloomsburg area, according to Senator John R. Gordner (R-27). Lawton succeeds the Honorable Donna J. Coombe, who retired earlier this year.

In the May Primary Election, Lawton won both the Republican and Democratic nominations for a full term for the seat that will begin in January 2010. "I was pleased to recommend Rusty to Governor Ed Rendell for nomination to the position, and I was pleased to work for Senate confirmation of the nomination," said Senator Gordner. "I felt it was important that the seat be filled prior to January, and I’m sure Rusty will serve with distinction."

The Judicial District serves Bloomsburg, Scott Township and Montour Township.
