Applications Available for State's Energy Harvest Program

HARRISBURG – Applications are now available for the state's Energy Harvest Program, an innovative program to build markets for clean renewable energies, according to Sen. John R. Gordner (R-27).

The Energy Harvest Program funds the deployment of advanced alternative energy technologies, such as hydrogen and fuel cell technology. Eligible uses also include biomass energy projects, waste coal reclamation for energy and clean distributed generation projects.

Sen. Gordner said that up to $5 million is expected to be available for grants this year.

"Promoting clean, renewable energy is an important part of protecting our environment and improving our economy," Gordner said. "This grant program helps us manage our energy resources to improve the quality of life across the state."

Applications are available by contacting the Department of Environmental Protection Office of Energy Deployment at (717) 783-8411 or online.

The deadline for DEP to receive applications is June 15.
