Senate Unanimously Passes Gordner Resolution Designating National Day of Prayer in Pennsylvania

(HARRISBURG) - - The Senate of Pennsylvania today unanimously passed a resolution sponsored by Sen. John R. Gordner (R-27) that recognizes May 4 as the "National Day of Prayer" in Pennsylvania.

Sen. Gordner said the first Thursday of May has been designated annually across the country to recognize the power of prayer.  "Prayer is regarded by millions as the most important utterance for the benefit of our society," said the Senator.

"The National Day of Prayer is a day to ask for healing and unity," said Sen. Gordner, who noted the annual designation is being recognized by Congress and by state legislatures across the country.

On May 4, Senator Gordner will be participating in two National Day of Prayer Ceremonies.  The first is at noon at the Milton Borough Hall, while the second will be held at 7:00 pm at the Grace Fellowship Church in Sugarloaf Township, Luzerne County.
