(HARRISBURG) – The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Office of Safe Schools has announced the upcoming opening of the Safe Schools Targeted Grant program, according to Senator John R. Gordner (R-27).
Successful grant applications will be utilized to obtain safety equipment and training programs related to curbing school violence and to fund the hiring of school resource and police officers. School entities and nonpublic schools must submit their application through PDE’s eGrant system (www.egrants.pa.gov). Police agencies and municipalities must apply through a paper process, as they do not have access to the eGrant system.
Applications will be accepted from May 14, 2018 through July 31, 2018.
“School safety has always been of utmost importance,” said Senator Gordner. “However, it has come to the forefront in recent years in light of tragedies across the nation. I encourage all schools and other eligible entities to explore this grant program as a way to help bolster their readiness to defend against violence and keep our students safe while they are school.”
