(HARRISBURG) – The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has awarded grants to two entities in Northumberland County, according to Senator John R. Gordner (R-27) and Representative Kurt Masser (R-107).  The funding has been approved by the State Department of Conservation and Natural resources through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program.

Marion Heights Borough will receive $31,200 for rehabilitation of the Marion Heights Borough Park.  This work includes renovation of the basketball court and pedestrian walkway, installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing and camera security system, ADA access, landscaping and other related site improvements.

Additionally, the Northumberland County Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area Authority will receive $147,720.  The funds will help to purchase equipment to maintain and construct motorized trails at the facility.

The Community Conservation Partnerships program is funded through a variety of state and federal sources including the Keystone Park and Recreation Fund, the state Recreational Trails Fund, the Environmental Stewardship Fund and the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.
